Brighton and Hove Council - Parking Ticket Problems

Brighton and Hove council have just decided to increase my parking fine from £50 to £75, without any warning at all.

They have really messed me around. I renewed my residents parking permit in plenty of time, but did not put it in my car until a few days after the old one expired, because I wasn't very well.

I was given a parking ticket, and I went to the parking office to explain the circumstances.

I was told to wait for a letter, and then go through the appeal process, which I did.

At no point did the council tel me what evidence they would find acceptable to convince them that I was unwell. In fact, at one point they said I did not have to provide any evidence at all.

Then when I received the result of the appeal, which according to them is final and binding, I was told that I would have had to provide evidence not just of my illness, but also that it was not possible for someone else to put the permit in the window of my car for me.

It is very upsetting, but I don't feel that I can fight them anymore. So, I've just paid the fine.
